Saturday

We're expecting ice and snow tonight. Meanwhile this dreary rain has me in a solemn mood. I have napped most of the day and have had a crying spell that I will just blame on hormones. I was thinking about how much I miss my daughters. Once I get in this frame of mind it's hard to get out, but I'm trying.

My husband will likely get stuck at work after his shift tonight so he has his bag packed just in case. I'm hoping it doesn't get that bad but it certainly looks like it will. At least the perk of working at a hotel means he will have a nice room to stay in. I wish I could go with him lol

Lazy Saturday

Our meal yesterday was a success. It was nice to see everyone and they all loved the food. As always, social interaction like that drains the life out of me so I am in recovery mode today. I did some online shopping for Christmas and made a grocery list. I'm about to finish reading the book I'm on. It's called The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. I am loving it so far. It's a page turner for sure and has some twists within it. I'm always game for a good psychological thriller.

20 Weeks

I had a visit with my psychiatrist yesterday. She was running behind so I ended up sitting in a hard, uncomfortable chair in the waiting room for an hour, and since then I have had excruciating pain in my tailbone. It hurts to sit, stand, walk, lay down, everything. Not good since I have a lot of cleaning to do today and tomorrow to get ready for my husband's folks coming over Friday. I will just do what I can and hope for the best.

The good news about the visit it that she said it should be safe for me to continue my meds while breastfeeding. There is actually less amount of the drugs that comes out in the breastmilk than what she is already absorbing through my blood. So for me this is great news. I was afraid I would have to change meds or stop taking them altogether. The fact that I have done so well mentally with this pregnancy so far gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, I will not experience any severe postpartum depression. I can hope anyway. Usually I have bad depression during pregnancy as well, but I have been lucky so far. This has been an easy pregnancy, except for my ever increasing fatigue. When I go to my OB I'm going to ask him to check my iron. Maybe that's the problem.

We have planned for too much food for Friday, as always. The menu is turkey, dressing, potato salad, deviled eggs, sweet potato souffle, mac & cheese, corn casserole, cranberry sauce, green beans, rolls, cranberry fluff, and Coca-Cola cake. I am cooking a lot of the stuff, but Douglas and his mom are cooking a few things, and I'm sure Douglas will help me if I get too overwhelmed.

I haven't decorated for Christmas yet. I'm in no condition to lift all the heavy containers out of the storage closet, and I've been too tired to fool with it anyway. I want to get the tree up at least, for Jacen's sake. Otherwise I wouldn't care if there were any Christmas decorations or not.

Almost Time for Thanksgiving

We had a really cold, rainy week here in North Georgia, but the sun finally came out yesterday and it's been really nice outside since. Unfortunately I have started experiencing dizzy spells so I didn't get to enjoy the outdoors as much as I would like, but my son did.

If the dizziness will calm down I am planning on having a major cleaning fest this coming week. I am going to my aunt's house on Thanksgiving but on the 30th my husband's family is coming here. I have a lot of neglected chores I need to catch up on before then. I'm not expecting perfection, but an improvement would be nice. I have a friend who has offered to come help me so I may take her up on her offer.

If I don't write again before Thursday, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Alone in a Room

This song has been out for a while but I only heard it recently. It gets stuck in my head but I like it :)

Update

Life has been really busy lately but the baby and I are doing great. I'm just feeling exhausted a lot. I would love to have a day to just relax and take a long nap. I am up early this morning because I have a urology appointment. Still having some issues with my bladder. I get the feeling that's never going to end lol

I am soooo craving some Hawaiian punch right now.

Phase Two

Today marks the first day of the second trimester for me! I'm sure I would feel better if I wasn't getting over a brutal stomach bug I had yesterday. It seems like the first trimester flew by. So far it has been an easy pregnancy. The fatigue was harsh at times, but the other symptoms have been relatively mild. After having such a rough pregnancy with my son, I am hoping this pregnancy continues to be smooth sailing.

Tomorrow morning I will have another ultrasound and my doctor is going to try to determine the sex of the child. 14 weeks is early but he told me at my last visit that most of the time sex can be determined around that time. I remember having to wait much later with my daughters, but of course the quality of ultrasounds has improved dramatically since then. I can't remember when I found out with my son, I think it was around 16 weeks.

I am surprised at how well my mental health has been doing despite the hormonal upheaval of pregnancy. It helps that I am still able to take most of my meds safely, but I will have to ask if they are safe for breastfeeding. I'm pretty sure two of them aren't, but I will find out for sure at my next psychiatry appointment. I have had some mild depression here and there, but considering how severe my depression was with two of my other pregnancies, I have no complaints. Hopefully my stability will continue throughout the second and third trimester as well as postpartum. As it always is with mental health, you never know what's right around the corner, so you just have to take one day at a time. The same can be said about pregnancy.

Day of the Sloth

I have been super lazy today. I slept until 9:30 a.m. (I usually get up at 7 or 8), and I just felt so exhausted that I've camped out on the couch for most of the day. Barely 3,000 steps on my Fit Bit so far. Since the schools were out for Fall break this week I let Jacen have yesterday and today off. I had planned to do lessons every day this week because I am trying to ensure that we are able to take a break after the baby is born, but Jacen and I both need a 4 day weekend to recharge. Hopefully when we get back at it Monday Jacen will be more willing to pay attention and my patience won't be so short.

I guess I've been so tired today because my friend brought her two year old and baby over yesterday. The toddler is a mess lol and the baby was fussy due to teething. I enjoyed seeing them but it just kind of wore me out helping with the kids. I know I will have to get used to having a little one again, but I'm sorely out of practice right now.

I've been feeling a little down this week. Not truly depressed, just blah. My mind tries to take me down roads I have no business being on. The best thing is to keep myself busy, which is easy to do most days, but my only coping mechanism today has been Reese's Cups lol I have been trying to eat healthy but those darn cravings get me sometimes :)

Another One

If you can believe my luck, I have another kidney stone trying to pass. Being pregnant means I can't take anything stronger than Tylenol for the pain, so that really sucks! I did do some research and Flomax is safe to take and I still have some left over from the last stone fiasco, so I started taking those today. It is supposed to relax everything in there and make it easier to pass the stone. It did the trick last time so I'm really hoping it works this time too. Today has been brutal, pain wise, but it is what it is. Baby seems fine so that's what counts.

My Mom surprised me with a box of baby stuff that came in the mail yesterday. A blanket, receiving blankets, burp cloths, and some socks. That was sweet of her. I'm glad she's excited about the baby.
